About Our Company

Roser & J. Cowen Logistical Services ("Roser & Cowen"), a division of the Cowen Group, is an international logistics organization that can handle all of your international supply chain needs from cross border shipments and distribution of goods to a total relocation of entire manufacturing facility.

Formed in 1997, Roser & Cowen was created when Neto Roser and John Cowen combined Roser & Associates and Cowen & Associates to create a partnership to provide best-in-class logistics services.  In 2004, Roser & Cowen expanded to Laredo, Texas and purchased a 51,000 square foot warehouse in the Killam Industrial Park.  In 2015, Roser & Cowen purchased the assets of Cain Customs Brokerage in Hidalgo, Texas which included an 80,000 square foot warehouse. 

 

With over 900,000 square feet of owned warehouse space and offices located in Brownsville, Hidalgo, and Laredo, Texas and a sister office in Matamoros, Mexico, our professional team is primed to offer our customers the following core capabilities:

John Cowen

John Cowen is the founder and CEO of the Cowen Group and has been in the US Customs brokerage business since 1978. Drawing from his vast experience, John provides deep and unique insight in the area of US and Mexican Customs and logistics services to his clients. In addition to Customs brokerage business, John is heavily involved in other areas of business, including commercial real estate and multi-family development.

John Cowen, Jr.

John Cowen Jr. is the President of Cowen Group, LTD which is comprised of ownership interests in various businesses including US & Mexican Customs brokerage, commercial real estate and multifamily development.  Since 2007, John oversees the day-to-day operations as well as strategic planning and growth initiatives of the organization.  Prior to joining the company, John worked for a Big 4 accounting firm in Chicago and New York City in where he advised large multinational corporations on Value Added Tax and Customs issues around the world. John is a licensed US Customs broker and graduated with honors with a degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.  Outside of work, John currently acts as a Director of the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation, Trustee of the Saint Joseph Academy Endowment, Vice Chairman at the Housing Authority of the City of Brownsville, Director of International Bank of Commerce Brownsville and Director of the Texas Business Leadership Council. 

Neto Roser

Neto is the Director of US Customs Compliance for Roser & Cowen.  He began his career in the customs industry in the family business in 1974 and became a licensed broker in 1977. Neto started his own business in 1986 and was the first broker in the Laredo District and second broker on the Southern Border to be approved for ABI the same year. Neto merged his company with his partner, John Cowen in 1997 to form Roser and Cowen Logistical Customs Services Ltd.

Danny López

Danny is the Senior Vice President for Roser & J. Cowen and has been in the US Customs Brokerage business for over 30 years. He has experience in all facets of US Customs Brokerage and has played a key role in the growth of the various entities that comprise the Cowen Group. In addition to US Customs experience, he has over 16 years of Mexican Customs brokerage experience and is well versed with the Mexican Customs Laws.

Robin Cowen

Graduating from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Robin is both a licensed US Customs Broker and attorney. She served clients as an international trade consultant while employed with three of the “Big 5” accounting firms in Chicago and New York from 2002 through 2009, when she began consulting clients of Roser & J. Cowen. Robin has collaborated with colleagues in Europe and Asia to achieve multiple venues of duty reduction along with overall trade compliance.

Rafael Marquez

As the IT Director for Cowen Group since July 2003, Rafa manages all information technology related processes for the Cowen Group companies, with focus on improving information flows and work processes through implementing technology based solutions. Rafael has developed multiple solutions in the areas of warehousing, invoicing, file tracking, customs, import/export, and logistics. Rafael and Sergio Aparicio developed and programmed the import/export software, Cumple, utilized by best in class Maquiladoras.

Javier Vera

Javier, CPA is the CFO for the Cowen Group. He has held that position since his hiring in 1996. Javier’s responsibilities and duties include the supervision of all financial affairs of all the entities within the Cowen Group, including the supervision of the U.S. and Mexican accounting departments for the respective entities. He is a Certified Public Accountant since 1985 and is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, the Texas Society of CPA’s, and the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of CPA’s.  Javier is a licensed US Customs broker as well.
