John Cowen - CEO

John Cowen is the founder and CEO of the Cowen Group and has been in the US Customs brokerage business since 1978. Drawing from his vast experience, John provides deep and unique insight in the area of US and Mexican Customs and logistics services to his clients. In addition to the Customs brokerage business, John is heavily involved in other areas of business, including commercial real estate and textile recycling. John has a Masters in Business Administration in Banking and Finance and a Bachelor in Business Administration in Finance from the University of North Texas.

Daniel Lopez - Senior Vice President

Danny is the Senior Vice-President for Roser & J. Cowen and has been in the U.S. Customs Brokerage business since October 1982. He has experience in all facets of US Customs Brokerage and has played a key role in the growth of the various entities that comprise the Cowen Group. In addition to US Customs experience, he has close to 11 years of Mexican Customs brokerage experience and is well versed with Mexican Customs Laws.

Neto Roser - Director U.S. Customs Compliance

Neto began his career in the customs industry in the family business in 1974, and became a licensed broker in 1977. Neto started his own business in 1986 and was the first broker in the Laredo District and second broker on-the-Southern Border to be-approved for ABI the same year. Neto merged his company with his partner, John Cowen in 1997 to form Roser and Cowen Logistical Customs Services Ltd. Neto has been Past President (4) of the Brownsville Licensed Brokers Association, and is a Past Director of the National Customs Brokers Association of America representing Area 8 and is currently on the Customs Committee representing Area 8 and on the TSN Release Sub Committee. Neto also runs a professional association called the Southern Border Coalition Group (the BBB's), which assists the Southern Border Brokers on common issues within their areas.

Carlos Rodriguez - Vice President of Operations

Carlos has been with the Roser & J. Cowen organization since 1997. He began his carrier 11 years ago with Roser & J. Cowen at an entry level position and as a result of hard work and dedication was promoted to Vice President of Operations. Carlos is heavily involved in the day to day operations and is widely appreciated by clients for his hands on, professional approach. He is one of three U.S. Licensed Custom brokers within the Cowen Group.

John Cowen Jr. - Vice President

John Cowen Jr. is a Vice President with the Cowen Group and has been with the organization since 2007. Prior to joining the company, John worked for a Big 4 accounting firm in Chicago and New York City in Global Indirect Tax Services Group where he advised large multinational corporations on Value Added Tax (VAT) and Customs duties issues around the world, including: VAT compliance, refunds, and transaction reviews, as well as Customs compliance reviews. John is a licensed US Customs broker and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Notre Dame. 

Jeremy Ford - Vice President

Jeremy is a Vice President with the Cowen Group and has been with the organization since 2007 overseeing operational and streamlining initiatives. Jeremy’s background is in business consulting, previously working with two high profile consulting firms headquartered in Chicago, IL. As a consultant, Jeremy assisted multiple Fortune 500 corporations, governmental agencies and privately held companies on a variety of issues. Jeremy has experience working with clients from many different industries including banking / financial services / insurance, pharmaceutical firms, state and municipal governments and others. Jeremy has been licensed as a PMP (Project Management Professional) based on his work experience, educational credit hours and professional examination. Jeremy graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

Javier Vera - Chief Financial Officer

Javier Vera, CPA, is the Chief Financial Officer for the Cowen Group. Javier has held that position since his hiring in June of 1996. Javier’s responsibilities and duties include the supervision of all financial affairs of all the entities within the Cowen Group, including the supervision of the U.S. and Mexican accounting departments for the respective entities. He has assisted in negotiations of bank financing and lease arrangements. He acts as the human resource administrator and is the insurance coordinator and is involved in the legal affairs for all the entities. He also assists in the external financial audits of the companies, financial statements preparation, cash flow management, mergers and acquisitions, entity formations, internal audits, payroll reporting and assists in the preparation of all federal and state tax returns. Javier is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelors in Business Administration. He is a Certified Public Accountant since 1985 and is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, the Texas Society of CPAs, and the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of CPA’s.

Rafael Marquez - IT Director

Rafael has been the IT Director for the Cowen group since July 2003. He manages all information technology related processes for the Cowen group companies, with focus on improving information flows and work processes through implementing technology based solutions. Rafael has developed multiple solutions in the areas of warehousing, invoicing, file tracking, customs, import/export, and logistics. Rafael developed and programmed the import/export software, Cumple, utilized by best in class Maquiladoras. In this capacity, he has 16 years of experience dealing with maquiladoras from all industries, US and Mexican governmental agencies, and logistics services. Rafael brings a unique blend of experience and expertise to any potential situation from his experience in working with a broad internal and external customer base, while designing and implementing information technology solutions for regulatory compliance and improved work processes.

Pedro Velazquez - IT Specialist / Web Developer / Webmaster

Pedro has been the IT Specialist / Web Developer / Webmaster for the Cowen group since Nov. 2003. He is a skilled web developer with a strong background in programming, database administration and network administration. His duties at the Cowen Group include the reviewing and updating of already launched websites and developing new projects. His vast knowledge and background in IT support brings to the Cowen Group new ideas and trends in web development solutions. Pedro also helps maintain our servers at Roser & Cowen Logistical Customs Services, Ltd. Pedro graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from the University of Texas Pan American.
